We are excited to announce that our school is applying for the Eco-Schools award, recognising our commitment to sustainability, environmental responsibility and pupil leadership. This is an important step in celebrating and strengthening the work already taking place across our school, including tree planting, community litter picking, developing outdoor learning spaces and caring for local wildlife. Through this journey, our pupils—particularly our Eco Ambassadors—are playing a vital role in helping our school make a positive impact on the environment while learning how small actions can create meaningful change. Our application reflects our school vision to Believe, Achieve, Thrive, as we continue to empower children to become responsible citizens who care for their world and their community. We look forward to sharing updates with families as we progress on our Eco-Schools journey.
Our Eco Vision
At our school, our vision is to Believe, Achieve, Thrive — and this is at the heart of our commitment to caring for the world around us. Through our eco work, we aim to inspire children to believe they can make a difference, achieve positive change through action, and thrive in a sustainable, healthy environment.
As part of our journey with Eco-Schools, we are proud to be developing a whole-school approach to environmental responsibility, empowering our pupils to become active global citizens and stewards of their local community.
What We Have Been Doing
Tree Planting and Greening Our Community
Our pupils have been actively involved in tree planting projects to support biodiversity and improve our local environment. We have proudly worked with Street Trees on tree planting across Lambeth, helping to create greener streets for our community. We have also planted trees in Tivoli Gardens, contributing to the growth and care of local green spaces.
Caring for Our Community
Our Eco Ambassadors have taken an active role in litter picking around the local community, helping to keep our neighbourhood clean and raising awareness about looking after shared spaces. Through these activities, pupils are developing pride in their environment and understanding the importance of collective action.
Community Partnership at St Luke’s
We are proud to support our local community through environmental action at St Luke’s Church, where pupils have participated in weeding and caring for the grounds. This work has strengthened community links while helping children understand stewardship and service.
Developing Our School Environment
Outdoor Learning and Reflection Spaces
We continue to develop our outdoor learning and reflection spaces so that children can connect with nature, learn outdoors and enjoy calm spaces for wellbeing and mindfulness. These areas support curiosity, creativity and deeper engagement with the natural world.
Bird Spaces and Wildlife Habitats
We have created dedicated bird spaces to encourage bird watching and support local wildlife. Through observing and learning about birds and habitats, pupils are developing a greater appreciation of biodiversity and the importance of protecting ecosystems.
Our Eco Commitment
Our eco work is helping us grow a school community where sustainability is part of everyday life. From planting trees and caring for local spaces to protecting wildlife and learning outdoors, our children are showing that small actions can lead to big change.
Believe in making a difference.
Achieve through action.
Thrive in a greener future.
