First league game with a win

First game and a win!

After previous cancelled matches, we played our first league game on Saturday 16th December 2023.  It was a good game and we thought we had scored 5 goals and won the game.  However, the official record on the Lambeth & Southwark website says that the scores was 4 – nil.

We thought the scorers were as follows:

Bradley – brace

Rex – brace

Matthias

Player of the match was: Bradley for his goals, hard work and unselfish play.

Special mention for Felipe for his continuous hard work.

We do not usually name a child when we include their photograph but Rex wanted to dedicate his goal in memory of his Grandma.

Support

We are lucky to have supportive families who bring their children to our games and offer their support throughout the match.

We also had families coming to support whose children are not players, as well as the occasional member of staff – this week it was Mr Oladele.

It is also lovely to see ex-pupils coming not only to support the team but to also assist in drills with them.

Our next generation

As a school, we allocate part of our sports grant to participate in this league and to have Coach Sham manage the team.  We also provide an additional football club for pupils in Years 2 & 3.  We also have a Girl’s team (who receive coaching from Girls United) and two of the girls are part of the team that plays in the league.
The younger players cannot wait to join the team when they are older.
